Internship & Career

Basics: Visa & Legality

Core Visa Types

  • X Visa (Student Visa): Best for long-term internships. Full-time students holding X1/X2 visas can legally intern or work-study under certain conditions.
  • S Visa: Applicable to internships in specific high-tech parks.
  • Note: L (Tourist) and F/M (Visit/Business) visas are generally not applicable for regular internships.

About Compensation

  • To legally receive a full salary, the company needs to pay taxes and apply for an Internship Visa for you.
  • In most cases, companies provide a meal and transportation allowance of 50-100 RMB per day.
  • Since Jan 2022, international students can legally engage in Work-Study (paid at local minimum hourly wage).
